Portsmouth Brewery is a local pub, eatery and microbrewery. I enjoyed a fine amber lager and a New York Strip sirloin. The food was a little overpriced, but it was very good. Also overpriced in the area: Pesce Blue. I settled for a chicken dish, because at $18.95, it was the only thing on the menu under $20.

Well, tell me, was that beer as tasty as it looks?

James, it was satisfying, yes. A little too much wang, but perhaps that’s because I should stop comparing every malt beverage to Guinness. 😀

Hmmm … wad’ya mean by “wang.” I personally don’t like Guiness, but I did try an Imperial Stout at the Liquor Barn (forget who makes it) that I actually liked.

“Wang” is what I call the flavor that comes from using more hops; perhaps tartness, except I don’t really think of it as tart. I really should read up on my beer lexicon so I can describe them properly.

If you read up on your “beer lexicon” then you will be speaking over my head. Well, I guess unless I read up on mine, but then that would be work. Yesterday I went to Pazzo’s and had Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale; nice. I also bought a 6-pack of Newcastle Brown Ale, and it seems to be missing something. Maybe it’s missing wang? I dunno.
