New Stuff
updated since you were here last
26 September 2004
- In response to many complaints that my treatment of Islam and Jihad is biased and unfair, I included a link to Dhimmitude, a site by Prof. Bat Ye'or based on a life of scholarship on the status of non-Muslims in Islamic lands.
- Updated the Issues I Care About page to reflect this change.
12 September 2004
- Finally completed work to restore old blog layout with the new WordPress template. The blog is now visually consistent with the rest of the site. One tweak over the old layout: I moved the right menu over to beneath the site menu, freeing up screen real estate for blog posts.
5 June 2004
- Added “Prayer Request” as a subject option in the email form.
- Revised email form to accept subjects via URI, e.g.,
http://kevinbasil.com/feedback/index.php?subj=Prayer%20request.
29 May 2004
- Finished updating the blog to WordPress version 1.2, “Mingus.” This was quite a bit more difficult than I first expected.
- Using the default WordPress index for the blog. The old index is no longer working due to changes in WordPress. Fine. The layout on this site is four or five years old anyway, and it needs to be updated.
- “Decimation & Reconstruction” seems to continue to be appropriate, especially in view of recent life-changes.
16 July 2003
- Revised page on St. Vladimir to be simpler and added a link to the OCA article on his life.
14 July 2003
- Reclaimed site after cracking by script kiddies.
- Renamed blog “Decimation & Reconstruction” to mark the event.
26 June 2002
- Converted top-level pages from tabular layout to Cascading Style Sheets. By ditching the tables, non-visual browsers should be better able to parse the documents. It also allows for better separation of structural mark-up from style.
- Converted top-level pages to generation by PHP scripts on the server side, to avoid the old situation where pages would be linked to themselves in the left navigation menu.
- I'm sure that I've done some other updates in the past nine months, but they've probably been quite minor. The one exception is the adding of a Blog. Today's update, however, integrates the blog with the rest of my original site.
2 November 2001
- Updated home page to honor the blessed memory of Fr. John Romanides.
- Updated Issues pages:
- links to articles about the unconstitutional destruction of liberty by the so-called Patriot Act in America Under Siege
- links to articles about Windows XP and Linux in the Software Wants Freedom, Too
5 October 2001
- Added a page on the meaning of jihad in Islamic belief.
2 October 2001
- Updated What's Happening Now.
- Added Email/feedback form for people to send me email without compromising my address to spam harvesters.
13 September 2001
- Added "America Under Siege" describing the chilling similarity between the film The Siege and recent events in New York and Washington, DC. A warning about the price of freedom.
- Updated front page to reflect solidarity with the dead and those who survive them.
6 July 2001
- Added a page on free software and open source software to my Issues pages.
29 June 2001:
- Updated my Whois page to include a small snapshot pic.
25 June 2001:
- The whole site has been transferred to KevinBasil.com. All former links have had redirects placed on them to bring all traffic to the new server.
- Updated my résumé to reflect recent work experience.
- Added a Whois page to serve as a short introduction to who I am. Includes an explanation of why I add "a sinner" to my name.
- Pics updated with pics from my ordination as a reader in the Orthodox Church. These are the first pics of me to appear with short hair.
- A new What's Going On Now, it's first update in over a year!
- Added "There is, within you, a country:" to my Portfolio pages.
- Added a life of St. Vladimir the Great to my Saints pages.
- Added a page of funny short quotes to my Quotes pages.
- Added this page, which is a list of what's been updated on the website with dates.
