Petra Retires @ Top40-Charts.com
A couple of years ago, I reviewed Petra’s last album, Jekyll & Hyde. I continue to enjoy this set very much, and I thought maybe it was time to see some news from the old-timers of baptized rock. Well, there’s news, alright.
My guess is that the band has planned on retirement for a while now; Jekyll & Hyde was the last hoorah, a kind of gift to the fans, no holds barred. Perhaps it was an album they’d wanted to do for many years but were never allowed to by the suits who run the record companies. If so, it was a good idea. Ending with any other album from the past ten years would have been a huge mistake. This way, they go out with their guns blazing.
Thanks to Bob and his many companions — the two Gregs, the three Johns, Louie, Mark, and Ronnie — for thirty-three years of rock. The fan site Petra Rocks My World has a load of information on their retirement plans and announcements.
