Emily is a little girl at the parish I attend in Connecticut. She is a very shy and has only slowly warmed up to me. I impressed her a few weeks ago, however, when I read her a little board book she was trying to get her mother to read her. After she said it was OK to read to her, I propped her up on my knee, put my arm around her and read.
Today, she handed me a star. “Did you do this in Sunday School?” She nodded her head. “Are you going to give that to your mom?” She shook her head. “Are you giving it to me?” Again, she nodded. I gave her a hug and told her I loved her.

Emmie must be coming out of her shell…she walks by me at the back of the church on her way up to the choir loft to visit her papa & looks up with her great wide eyes & we wave…she is very dear.
