Vegan diets may be harmful to developing children, one research study found. Findings that support common sense and the canons of the Church fascinate me. It will be interesting to see how this study is received in the field of nutrition. The article notes that strict vegans are already rebutting its findings.

There was a case several years ago in which vegan parents were convicted of assualt of their daughter because since birth they had fed her a strict vegan diet. They wouldn’t even allow breast milk, a belief which (scarily enough) is not singular to them. She was grossly undersized and, if I remember correctly, mentally disabled because of it. Of course the vegans claim that such cases don’t represent “true veganism,” but these are probably the same folks who argue that socialism could work on a large scale and what happened in Russia wasn’t “true socialism.”

They believed that even breastmilk should be proscribed? I’m dumbfounded.
