silver dolphins --- submarine service qualification pin, US NavyI have pared down my newsreader blog subscriptions to the handful of blogs that I actually read, because my spare time to do so is truly spare presently. Also, blog articles will continue to be sporadically occasional. When I have my fish, perhaps more writing will be forthcoming.

    Chris Dmitri: actually, I have learned that they are not dolphins, but dolphin fish. US Navy Submarine Dolphins:

    This design was …a bow view of a submarine, proceeding on the surface, with bow planes rigged for diving, flanked by dolphins in a horizontal position with their heads resting on the upper edge of the bow planes. Today a similar design is used: a dolphin fish flanking the bow and conning tower of a submarine.
