Four years ago today, I was received by chrismation, confession, and communion into the Orthodox Church in America along with the other founders of St. Athanasius.
Two years ago Saturday, I arrived for my first day of boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes.
That means I’ve only three years left.

Happy Anniversary and Many Years!
Is “Boot Camp” for five years? How often do you go? I’m imaginging it’s like our Army Reserve, where you go a certain number of times each year.

Ian, “boot camp” is the American name for basic training. It is the six to eight week (fourteen in the Marines) training that kills the civilian and creates the sailor, marine, soldier, or airman. After that, there is usually more training to teach specific, job-related skillsets.
I have been in the Navy two years now, and I have three left on my contract.
